Just reread this story recently and remembered just how much I love it. I totally love pretty much every single plot thread written.
I am interested to see how Giles and Willow react to being vampires and how they will now interact with their sire - Spike, and just how their souls and previous feelings about Spike (and demons in general) will color their future behavior. I also want to know what they, and Xander and Anya (because there's going to be a war in Sunnydale and they are still in that town, so I think we will be seeing these two again), will think about Buffy's actions and Angel's unthinking defense of her (always choosing her over his own kin, yet leaving "for her own good" but coming back to butt-in whenever he wants, not on dude).
Another question I'm interested to see answered is if Dawn is more other than human, and possibly immortal to boot! I love how she listened to Spike's side and never let her faith in him falter. Their friendship is really great. I also like how she really thought about the future in her speech to convince Spike to take her too. It wasn't just a little girl whining because her friend was leaving, it was someone who wanted to be with her real family and protector, and Spike is that to her. Just one of his many facets.
The whole idea of Spike leaving to start his own bloodline/order really got me excited, and it was touching how he named it after Dru and her penchant for magic. It creates a perfect opportunity for all those hidden talents he has to come to light and for him to shine. I can't wait to see all the reactions from the scooby gang, fang gang, and the demon realm as he gets the ball rolling. And then it goes and gets even better as he decides to go beyond forming a simple vampiric order and extends the concept into creating a true clan. I can't wait to see who joins!
I also can't wait to see the new clan come into its own and then take the fight to the Initiative boys and Buffy. I am greatly looking forward to seeing them get their behinds handed to them. It never sat well with me how they all got off pretty light in the show, like being prejudiced, torturing Nazi's is OK until you mess with Buffy? What kind of message is that? I want to read a story where their whole premise is torn apart and shown for the rot it is. I think this story will do that. It'd be neat if maybe a few of the brainwashed bunch open their eyes and escape to Spike's side too.
I want to see the fang gang begin to interact with Spike and his people, and I want to see them compare that to Angel's interactions with them. And I want to see their reactions as they realize Angel comes off the lesser man/demon. I want them to become a part of things, and not because the higher powers are bribing them or making them either, but because they begin to believe in Spike's cause and in him.
And then there's Angel. I'm honestly pretty comfortable being anti-Angel for this one, because he's been a jerk so far (even to his own friends at times, I don't know maybe he just needs some Prozac or something). I know the main pairing is listed as Angel/Spike, but I really hope that Spike makes Angel work for it (a lot! like not get together until the end if at all, or that could just be my inner justice demon speaking). And if they never can reconcile enough for a romantic relationship, then I'd be OK with that too. Because what Angel did, and has done in the past, to Spike (and Dru too) is serious business. He shouldn't have access to a magical (or vampiric) 'get out of jail free card' that wouldn't be justice in any way. He needs to truly have an internal awakening, and realistically and comittedly change his ways. And he should do it because it's the right thing to do - not because he know's he'll get Spike in the end if he does. So, I guess I am a bit invested in Angel's reformation arc, lol.
And their is more beyond this that is great, but I think I've rambled on enough for one day. As always, thanks ever so much to the wonderful author - Jinx, you are awesome.
